WCF News: The Royal Bath and West Show

29th May - 1st June 2013

The Royal Bath and West Show

The Bath and West Show celebrated its 150th anniversary this year, with record numbers attending.

Farriery competitions were held each day, starting with the apprentices and culminating with the BFBA National Championships on the Saturday.

The Best Shod Horse awards were made to entrants to the Pony Club games. This is seen as a great way of raising awareness of the importance of good shoeing amongst the younger generation.

The Master presented the Best Shod Horse awards, and then later presented awards to the winners of the Farriery competitions.

Clifford Barnes, Liveryman and new President of BFBA, presented the magnificent cup to the new National Champion, Nigel Brown.

Nigel had been in tremendous form all week, accumulating an impressive number of prizes. His striker, Duncan Thomson, won a handmade sledge hammer made by Andy Reader-Smith. The current World Champion, Steven Beane, was the Show Champion.
